Every now and then, there are analysts who claim to study a country's economy and then present their findings. According to this report, the United States is on the failure list right now. As far as I can see, America is experiencing some downfalls currently but does this mean that it will never regain strength?
I think America is a strong country. It will rise from the dilemma. America changes rapidly and can afford to manage all the changes they are faced with. Talking about corruption, I agree that there is terrible corruption in America but yet there are other countries where their corruption far outweigh that of America's. For example, China.
America still maintains power because it is the sole country that has money in every other country. I think this news was just to broadcast some sort of scare or to make America appear to be failing. America will certainly learn from this experience now and should be wise enough to make adjustments, as it always does.

Great Thing To Keep
It is such a pleasing feeling to have good memories. Do you agree? Can you remember any of your good moments? I always try to cherish great memories. These memories are things cameras could not capture.
Currently I am so happy in my English class at GSU (Georgia State University). We are blessed to have a humorous, understanding, and cool tutor. Mr Miller appears to be very smart and is so calm. Some students, probably are not aware that he allows them to get away with 'murder'.I guess because he is so understanding.
We laugh a lot in this class and we disagree with grace. There are some students that I will never forget. Each of us some awesome and unique qualities. I think class was a great mix of personalities. Few appear to be laid back but managed to pull some surprises on us. Few are crazy about fashion and will go all out to show it. Then there are others who ask some questions that will leave you pondering but laughing out without control. We are a wonderful mix and I hope I will see these folks around and in the future and be able to remind them of our jolly class times.Oh, I almost forgot about the ones (Yours truly being one) who are always eating or munching on something, yet there is absolutely no sign of where all the food ends up!
For now, I just want to encourage everyone to enjoy the good times wherever you are and wherever you may go. Life is too short to sweat over silly, unimportant things. Live, love, laugh and don't forget to PLAY! Yes, adults can play too and you may change the rules of the game to your liking.Always remember that no matter what you are going through, someone else is experiencing worse than you. Give thanks for what you have and also for what you don't have. Think about it.

Customer Service
When was the last time you had it really good? I mean great enough that it pleases you? If you can't remember, then that means you probably have the same issue as I do right now. I am referring to customer service, get your mind out of the gutter if you thought something else! More recently than before, I have noticed that there is so much poor customer service around. Why?
I went to a Kroger near to my house, which I always shop two weeks ago and asked the florist at the flower center for some assistance. She answered me then went around the back of the bakery in the supermarket. I waited, then five minutes went by, she did not return, so I waited another five minutes, she still did not return. I was hoping that maybe she was so busy that she forgot I was waiting on her; so I asked another worker there to call her and he did. Still she did not come. I saw her and asked her if she had forgotten about me and to my surprise she said that she was 'off' for that morning. I asked her why she had not said so from the start instead of having me waiting like Bob Marley! By this time I was so pissed. This was 7.50 a.m. and she told me she was having her tea.
I wonder if these workers have any idea that if customers do not use their businesses services or do not shop at their stores that the owners will have no money to pay their salary. Sometimes I get so annoyed of these poor customer service that it is painful. I know life can get burdensome at times but we can not afford to let it ruin our days all the time. Come on folks, liven up and be cheerful, at least just to serve customers.

Crappy 'art', Worthy 'art'
Whoo! Man. How I love John Legend's music! when I listen to his songs I just feel so relaxed and happy that there are still great singers and musicians around. With songs like these you can always remember that there is great art in the world as well as that love do still exists. Check out few of his videos at http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos--23032537. Enjoy!
I love to watch folks partake in dancing. I like to dance too but some of these moves, I am yet to learn. However, watching Columbus Short is one of my favourites. I think dancing is a great form of art and also that anyone who intends to enjoy dancing should do it responsibly (just like drinking!). Check out some Short's moves at http://www.imbd.com/video/screenplay/vi327942425/.
Don't you think this sculpture is beautiful artwork? I really do and I admire the artist, Laura Facey for being so bold and truthful in completing it. Though it was (and still is but not as bad) a very controversial piece of artwork in Jamaica, many people admire it and tourists travel from wide and far to take photos of it. This is a wonderful representation of the mind, body and soul. I think art forms like these are great ways of expression. This one in particular depicts truth and freedom and life needs more like these! "None but ourselves shall free our minds". This is just awesome "aesthetic beauty". Being that I had done Art Appreciation few years ago, I understand the true beauty behind this kind of artwork. What is your take on it? Engage in more information about this at http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/columns/html/20030810T010000-0500_47397_OBS_REDEMPTION_SONG.
Well, well. What on earth do sensible people find appealing about 'rock music'? I am so annoyed by rock music and rock bands! I just think the singers/screamers/jumpers are weird, make noise and dress scary most of the times. Are rock bands folks really singing or just making noise? Please! I could never find myself listening to these types of music, some may consider to be wonderful art! If you wish to view more info about this group or other rock crap, you may do so by visiting, http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/193934/rock-n-roll-all-nite-live-in-1998.jhtml.
I really admire fashion, but what the hell do you call this? Males (some females too) showing their undies in public? This just looks nasty and our of place. I understand that fashion can be a great from of art but this? I really pray that the laws against this ridiculous 'art' would be extended and to all states and especially to schools . Why do you think anyone wants to view your undies and worse too, at times these undies can be ugly and do not match anything the culprits are wearing! Fix it please! Information about this issue/art may be found at http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/OnlyinAmerica/story?id=3519569.
Oh my Lord, how I love Tyler Perry! The thing I don't like is more African Americans acting like 'Buffoons'!This series by Tyler Perry, 'The House of Paynes' is truly a PAIN! I hate seeing this grown, black man acting silly. There is nothing comedic about him or this series for that matter. I enjoy watching comedies but this series is such a turn off. You may see some of this nonsense at http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi4074504473/.
This rude creature, 'Spongebob' is another so called form of art that I really hate with a passion! Who in this world created this thing and what is the purpose of it? I know some folks like him with a passion and some kids would have a fit if they are not allowed to see it but it seems so silly to me. I think it has no value and the character it depicts appears to be rude in my opinion. I do not allow my kids or any other who visit me to watch this silly creature. Worse, there are so many collectibles in his name and pictures! Some folks collect them all. How could they? View more of it at http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi13603963/.I appreciate many forms of art but honestly, some kinds could best not be publicized. Great thing is the world is made up of such a splendid and sometimes weird set of people that certainly there art that suit everyone.

Maria Full of Grace

Maria Full of Grace would fall in the movie genre of drama. It was a very interesting movie without much graphic scenes. Though the context of the movie was about drugs trafficking , it did not judge real traffickers in the movie. This is not a true story but reports some of what happens everyday in real life.
Maria- the title character is a bold, beautiful, strong, determined, and smart seventeen year old. She grew up in a small rural town north of Bogota. She worked in a menial job but had to shoulder the responsibility of her family. She left that job and got entangled with drugs but did it without her family knowing. The movie showed Maria's unpredictable odyssey from Columbia to New York- risks, determination, survival.
Take note of the title -'Maria' means Mary in Spanish; also Maria was pregnant in the movie without any vivid information of a father, just like Mary in the story of the Bible. Take note too of the picture with Maria looking up as if she is receiving communion... like what is done in a Catholic church. Why did the writer make this connections? I wonder. Also in some scenes in the movie I noticed some symbols of 'Jesus' depicted in stores as well as Maria wore a cross on her chain throughout the movie. In the hotel, one of the drug kingpins, while watching television (waiting for mules to release pellets) did the cross action across his upper chest. What's up with all these connection to the 'spirit', considering the acts that were being done? Is that all these people connected in the drug trafficking were seeking protection from the holy spirit or is it that viewers were to see them as innocent despite what they were doing? Is it that we were expected to look deep for the morals of the story?
This guy, Don Fernando, played a 'good Samaritan' in the movie. It appears as if he owns a funeral parlor and is aware of the ' drug mules' situation in New York. He helped out Maria in some sense after she told him the story about Lucy. He managed to 'pull some strings' and found Lucy's body, so she good get to be buried decently. Don Fernando appears to be a popular community figure. Lucy's sister, Carla took Maria to him so she could get a job, however he helped Maria in other ways.
This movie had much sadness, suspense and drama but exposed that there is hope after all the trauma. This is maybe another reason there were so much religious symbolism in the film. I would surely recommend others to see this film.

Tom Yoder on Great Depression

Interviewer -Studs Terkel
Interviewee -Tom Yoder
Year of interview- 1971
In this interview Tom spoke about The Great Depression of 1929. Tom is a son of a suburban housewife. He mentioned that he had never gone to bed hungry. Tom spoke about food shortages and the poverty that reigned in the Great Depression.Apparently he was told by his family who were alive in this era. He said that the depression had left scars on many people. From his interview I gathered that the upper class were the ones mainly worried because they were never used to poverty and not used to not having enough. The poor on the other hand, had it even worse because even they were accustomed to poverty but they were feeling it greatly during the depression.
Tom mentioned that the generation who grew up in the Great Depression did not want to talk about it to their other after them generation. Tom said to that it appears as if the sufferers were ashamed of the poverty they endeavored at the time. He believes that people should not be ashamed because that was a great depressive time in America's economy and that it had taught America a lot and hopefully they have learned from it and hope that it will never happen again. He thinks that the government should be the ones to be blamed and should be concerned mainly.
From the interview I gathered that Tom maybe did not have enough information about the Great Depression in a sense. It sounded like he was repeating information about what was told to him by his family who maybe were a part of the depression.
Whatever it is and however it occurred, I do pray it does not happen again... Do you think we could possibly survive another Great Depression now?

Dem. President & Congress

I hate discussing politics but since this an assignment I have to complete let me comply. There is no quick fix to the pestilineal problems that America's society is enduring right now. However, being that America is now under a new system of governance with both a Democratic President and Congress there is much to think about. Could this also mean too much government?I do not think it has so much to do with the same party President and senate. I think it's Obama's appeal to both parties that will make a difference, if any.I hope there will be more money for schools because the youth will need this for OUR future. The next four years will definitely be challenging for us all. Having a Democrat President and senate does not mean that the Congress will support the President. The Republicans also have the liberty to stop the Democrats from passing certain laws because senate does not have 2/3 votes to do as they like.
These were the same senate and President who were with President Clinton and they created a system that caused all this financial crisis now. I figure also that a lot of 'big' government will be getting even more involved in state government.
Also I think many people will stop saving, if they have not yet done so. In previous years American saved up to 12% of their money over year. This changed when Clinton took over; and this may happen again in the next four years.
My prayer is that it all work out for the benefit of us all.(Even though we are expected to separate church from State: We will pray in secret). When everything on earth fail, we have to turn a spirit. What's your take? I understand that the spirit may not be able to help us during these four years but... it will worth a try.
To end I think both Congress and President will work to stimulate the economy but it dos not mean that all is well because they are of the same party (majority in Congress). Let's see...
Hutu & Tutsi- blog for 11/3
Well, apart from these names (Hutu, Tutsi) sounding close to curse words, there were valid and interesting information in this document. It appears as if history is repeating itself. Hutu and Tutsi is have been in fighting for years now. They have been fighting for land and identity and it seems as if they are in this rubble presently. The Tutsi are considered to be the rebels. They used to be the upper class in Rwanda and they were slaughtered in 1994 by the Hutu. Almost 1 million of them died. The Tutsi were killed by Hutu who were normally agriculturalists. The Tutsi, on the other hand, were normally cattle farmers.
The Tutsi were scattered all over the world but many returned to Rwanda after the Hutu were kicked out of Rwanda in July 1994.This seems to be an everlasting conflict that has been going on for years.Normally, every ten to fifteen years gap with peace then outbreaks of breaking occur. At times the Tutsi and the Hutu are supported by outside sources, that is, Burundi and Congo respectively.
Tutsi put up a strong fight and removed the Hutu. There were also rapes committed by the Hutu on the Tutsi people. The Tutsi were also fighting for identity in Rwanda. The Hutu in Rwanda were aided by the Hutu in Burundi: Burundi has a lot of Hutu and the Hutu feared that they were going to be under Tutsi rule like the Belgians tried to have race classes and said that the Tutsi were superior to the Hutu but capitalism changed that. Actually, both Burundi and Congo are "in bed" (supporting the Hutu) with the Hutu.

I Knew We Could...and We Did!
Ooh yeah! I knew we could do it! I woke up feeling so overjoyed! America longed for a change and it has come! It's been a long time coming and I know change must come. I love this man as a person,an ambitious black man, a responsible father and a believer. I am even happier that I was a part of this historical moment. Though I never had the opportunity to exercise this important right this time around (not a citizen yet), I am proud you all did. What do you think our great forefathers would have said at this magical time in America? How could his opponent have won anyway? With an annoying cackling VP like that who giggles for everything, could it have been any other way? Let us not blame it all on her because certainly there must have been other reasons the result came out the way it did. Well I am elated and is extremely proud this morning that the citizens of America made their choice and I anticipate that Barack Obama and his party will do what the country needs and make the right decisions on the citizens', workers', residents', visitors', sufferers', challenged, disabled, and all behalf.
Last but not least, join me in welcoming in our NEW PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA! Not to take the celebration from the Democrats and Obama's family but now that the election fever is over, please be a part of the FREE LEVI.ORG MOVEMENT! You do not know what this is? Well, what is the name of that young teenager who impregnated that known lady's teenaged daughter and was coerced to be married? I can't give anymore clues, after you do the math, please remember to join for a great cause!

Brown Sugar- Movie Review

Brown Sugar- I have watched this about three years ago and I can remember it just like yesterday. I love romantic films and this movie added to my list. This movie falls in the genre of comedy and romance. It was released in the year 2002. The length of this film is about 1 hour and 50 minutes. Brown Sugar was directed by Rick Famuyiwa and produced by Earvin Johnson, Peter Heller, and Trish Huffman. The great stars were Taye Diggs (Dre), Sanaa Lathan (Sidney), Queen Latifah, Dante 'Mos Def' Smith, and Nicole Ari-Parker.
This movie is a combination of hip-hop culture, romance, and how people relate to each other. This movie could easily be called a hip hop love story! IT was filmed in Hew York and showed many scenes of days of hiphop on the corners on streets of New York. The story basically depicted some themes of the 'Wood.'
Dre (Taye) and Sidney (Sanaa) had an amazing friendship which they nurtured from childhood. They found this friendship due to their common love for hiphop and was depicted in the movie as the founders of hip hop from their very early age as children. Sidney's love for music led her to choose her career in music as she was a music critic fifteen years later. Dre, on the other hand, became a music executive. Though the music kept their childhood friendship to grow they stared falling in love with each other in the latter parts of the movie. At times they would react naive about their emotions for each other. Dre had issues with his firm and so decided to branch off on his own. He got a loan from his long time friend Sidney. In the beginning they both had no concern for romance for each other because they were both in relationships. Their respective relationships apparently did not work out so they started admitting to their long time disguised interest in each other. They eventually got together and it was so beautiful.
I enjoyed Mos Def's performance, he was so cool and hot! He depicted this poor cab driver who had talent. He turned out finding romance too while enjoying hip-hop. The ladies in this movie were all beautiful and were all dressed in great fashions. The men on a whole were fashionable too and all looked so handsome. The characters in this movie all had wonderful performances and if you are a lover of romantic films, you would readily agree.
I enjoyed this romance comedy with black people because most times they are left out of true romantic films. This movie also had some surprises and tempo. There were moments when the scenes appeared as if something was going to happen ...then nothing! Kind of built up your adrenaline in a happy way. I am sure you understood the reasons I like this film. I recommend you see this movie, if you have not yet done so. You may two links below for information about this film. This film could be described as a tribute to hip-hop and a celebration of friendship and love!

Comment on Melvin's Movie Blog
I am not a movie lover per se. I really go to the movies if someone is inviting me or if I am truly bored and want to get out of the house. I do watch movies at home but mainly Lifetime movies, if I have the time. Also, if my husband purchases movies and we decide to stay in and enjoy them ...but then again, he likes action and documentary kind of serious shows, which I don't like. Anyway, I will comment on Melvin's review about the movie, The Color Purple. This review can be accessed on Melvin's blog page at http://melvindiggs.blogspot.com/ .
The Color Purple is a drama film. It is about a young African American girl named Celie Harris and showed all the problems African American women encountered during the early 1900s. Some of the problems highlighted (in the movie) faced by these women were racism, sexual discrimination and poverty. Celie is played by Whoopie Goldberg and was abused and treated like a slave . She had two kids by age fourteen which were also fathered by her father! Another character in the movie was Shug who became close friends with Celie. It appeared in the movie too as if Celie and Shug were engaging in a lesbian affair. Sofia another strong character in the film played by Oprah Winfrey also had suffered abuse from the males in her family. She was sent to jail for a rude remark she made to the mayor's wife.
I agree with Melvin about this movie. It is a movie African Americans can connect to in some ways. Also it could be painful to watch as a woman. If you know about some of the situations in history in the 1900, you would understand how this show can have strong effects on African Americans who decide to see it. It was an interesting film, which also had my eyes glued to the screen while watching it. Melvin described this film in a great way, as he wrote about the plot, setting and characters in a very descriptive manner.
Melvin really created an awesome review about this movie. He also talked about the different types of women depicted in the film and he provided some great examples of their characters. These were all true as I could remember in the film they depicted strong women, weak, and powerful women.
This was an interesting film and I would recommend you all who have not seen it yet to do so.

Who's Priority?
It is amazing the way we treat each other at times. From a moral standard you would sometimes assume that humans would be a little more sensitive in regards to certain people. For example, the aged, crippled, deformed or sick. The government do make an effort at times to create certain priorities but maybe these are not sufficient. Many private companies also create special services and facilities for people like these.
I am annoyed about this trend I have been seeing on the Marta public transport system. I am very aware that there are priority seating for these people on the buses and the trains, however, they at times do not enjoy the liberty of using these. The reason for this mainly is that other able bodied persons have deprived them the chance! Why?
I understand at times that we all can be tired while traveling these systems but at least when there a need for the use of the priority seatings for the intended purpose, please give them up. On Friday, I saw an old, shaky lady entered the Marta train with few bags and hardly walking. She looked around and all the priority seats were taken. Of course these were occupied by some strong, able-bodied folks, who sat there looking as if they had no clue they ought to offer the old lady the seat which was meant for her! I was so ashamed. I myself was standing so I could not offer her a seat.
After about ten minutes of ride, a young lady got up from one of the regular seats further away from the old lady and offered her the seat. She accepted and sat with such a deep sigh I could actually feel her pain.Sometimes I wonder if this is the way some of us treat our own family members who are ill, aged or handicapped. It is sad. We ought to really think about this and try to make a change.

Cedell Davis-Inspirational Musician

Born June 9,1927 in Helena, Arkansas, USA. I considered this artist as inspirational as he beats the odds in many ways.
Cedell Davis suffered from a series of accidents and injuries but remained dedicated to his music. He was infected by typhoid, then polio at an early age of about 9 years old. Due to polio, he lost most of the use of his right hand. In spite of all his devastating dilemmas, he still played his guitar and did his 'blues' music. He changed how he once played to incorporating a butter-knife technique. ( Done because of his illnesses suffered.)
After his previous traumas suffered (mentioned earlier), he was trampled in a bar brawl and crippled which caused him to be confined to a wheelchair. Yet, he pursued and enjoyed his 'blues' just th esame.
I listened to some of his music and enjoyed them so far. The album I found was titled: The Horror of It All. The songs I listened to were : If You Like Fat Women, Worried Life, Cold Chills, The Horror, and Mistreating Me. These titles seem suggestive to me. From these songs I depicted he was singing about pain, love, romance, stories of his situation with women, and relationships. The guitar as played by Cedell sometimes mad some unbelievable sounds which were also pleasing. I enjoyed th esounds effects he mad with his mouth. You may use this link to listen to truncated pieces of his lyrics:
http://www.emusic.com/album/10596/10596881.html
His music does not readily make sense, you have to listen to it repeatedly. In order for listeners to understand his music, they must be attentive. Davis has logic and consistency in his music. Sometimes he goes deep down in his guts to bring out his songs; this sometimes made it humourous. His music reflects the hard times he experienced as a black poor man in the deep South of Mississippi. His muci also had happiness in some of his lyrics but they depicted many emotions overall. His music also has many electrifying tunes and lyrics. They also have roots and cause you to want to listen. I nebver used to listen to these types of music but after viewing this documentary about these country bluesmen, I got really interested. I was also really scared of some of the sounds of the guitar in his music , but after listening few times, I appreciated the sounds. I would recommend his albums to my friends.

You See Me Laughin'...

I really like this film so far.' You See Me Lauhin' is a full length documentary about four great Mississippi Bluesmen and the Oxford MS based label Fat Possum Records. Some great icons in this film were R.L Burnside, David Kimbrough and Asie Payton. The setting of this documentary depicted poverty as the interviews and stories were told in some poor like looking settings. This film presented music as an art form and showed how much music has changed over the years. It was interesting how this film also depicted the exploitation of musicians by record companies. This documentary was interesting as it captured the soul of some real African American Bluesmen musicians. The film showed how these old time musicians set a trend with their music for present day music. This is great as it helps us in a sense to understand the roots behind some of our present day music. The better part though, is that back then these musicians had more emotions in their music and did it for the true love of it. Nowadays, it appears as if musicians are getting involved with music for the monetary aspect of it.
This documentary was also very hilarious even though it had interesting interviews which at times retold some disturbing stories. For example, Burnside retold his story of his occasion of killing a man and then spending six months in prison for it. T-Model Ford spoke about his abusive punishment he received once from his father which damaged him really seriously. This film was an intense film which grabbed my attention as I was really interested in their stories. The great part about all of this is that the stories are real.
I also noticed throughout the film that most of the 'stars' as well as other characters had missing teeth and poor living conditions. In spite of these conditions, they were having fun and loving the music. Also, few of these bluesmen spoke openly about their promiscuous behaviour back then!
I would surely recommend my friends and modern day musicians to watch this film. I do not have much to say about the Fat Possum Records Label because I thought what they did to these guys was awful and inconsiderate.( As you can tell from the image presented above). Some parts of this film was a little sad but it was worth watching.

Rape!...informally
Ladies have you ever been raped informally? Yes men. It can also happen to you! Have you? I have always taken notice of how humans can stare at each other in such a way it can be called rape.
I caught a man staring at me recently and licking his lips in such manner I felt like a piece of succulent meat! Yes I agree that humans' appearances and physiques can attract us , but people please let us be more subtle with our thoughts. Some men will stare at a woman from head to toes, to rear, to breasts and she can feel declothed. Women are guilty of this too. We will watch a male if he looks awesomely thick or masculine in certain arenas. We will feast our eyes and then make whatever the next move is that will satisfy our satiety.
I believe though, that men salivate over women's bodies waaaaaay more than women do men. Right or wrong? I could be wrong (especially with all these hot men around these days, trying to keep up their six packs, or better yet their LIQUOR stores!)
Happily enough, I am already married but I feast my eyes but I do not touch! I like to go to those clubs and watch the exotic men dance... but my husband will not take me so I guess I will find some understanding girlfriend who has the same interest to take me. Well I think this kind of 'rape' is healthy for the suspect and the victim. Is it? What do you think?

"W." Movie...

Thank goodness another movie came out on top to replace the stupid Beverly Hills Chihuahua crap! Oh no, the top movie was not the "W" puke either! 'Max Payne" by Mark Wahlberg turned out to be the number one movie for this week with a high sale of $18m. Beverly Hills Chihuahua now second place with sales of $11.2m. Third place winner went to The Secret Life of Bees with sales of $11.1m and the "W" movie placed fourth with sales of $10.6m. played in 2,030 cinemas, "W" averaged a solid but unremarkable $5,197 a theater, compared with a $6,334 average for "World Trade Center." "W" was shot on a moderate budget of $25 million. Do the math. Was this a loss or a gain?
Some of the main events portrayed in this movie are: Bush's family, the war in Iraq, and Bush's presidency. It appeared as if the creator of this movie was implying that Bush is trying to clean up his dad's mess and trying not to be like his father.( Is he?) Bush's presidency was slammed as the movie highlighted his cabinet and implied that he was getting all his advice from his cabinet, (Is it that Bush has no input or he can not trust his own decisions?). You be the judge. The event which highlighted the war in Iraq made it appear as if the war was not planned and that Bush is basically saying it was his father's war.
I think these events presented concern the American people on a whole. Probably concern mainly prospective voters. With election about two weeks away , could this movie help to influence voters' decisions? Was the writer trying to imply that Bush is ignorant and not intelligent? Also, I may be misinterpreting, but did any of the events suggested that Bush was promiscuous?
With two weeks before the presidential election, this prime for Bush's biography. This "W" movie was released before election and after the presidential debates. Perfect timing because if it were after these both, then chances are people would not be interested. (Did you ask why?)
According to one movie critic, "Bolin acted Bush portrayed with buffoonish moments,...empathy shown for Bush as the man with some serious daddy issues...who has a strong relationship with his wife to fall back on." Well whatever the truth is...would we be able to tell?

Hair it Izz !
Have you stop to really pay attention to the prints in some ads or on signs? I have been noticing that the people who put ads or signs out to public places do not check their spelling! It is so annoying . I understand when they are using PUN but what about when they are not? Is it that difficult to check spelling before posting these ads?
Like my title Hair It Izz, I know these folks are using pun and it is smart. This is the name of a barber shop. I have seen even posts on my university campus with incorrect spelling! Yes!
Here are a few examples of some of the stuff I have seen in ads, on posters and business places permanent signs. Recently, while reading an ad on campus I saw this sentence: It will be anD enticing evening! People come on. The word AND should have been AN. Next in an ad I saw on my mailbox : Come out and meAt new people! Are you kidding me? This seemed to me that whomever attended were cannibalized! As far as my memory serves me, the correct word should have been meEt. One of the most common ones I have seen is this one: toMMorrow... Could we just take a moment to spell check before posting? The word spelt with one letter M and two letter Rs. So it would be tomoRRow.
Can you imagine eating at a restaurant where they have bad spelling? The same errors they make in their spellings may have spilled over in their recipes and their incorrect proportions in their recipes! This is serious. On a popular restaurant here in Georgia which has been around for over 15 years, they have this beautiful painted sign on their glass : CaRRibean Restaurant...Caribbean has One letter R and two letter Bs. I hope these people who painted this sign were not from the CariBBean!
Sometimes I get or take the opportunity to let the folks responsible about these errors but at times you have no contact for some. Shame, shame, shame! We should start putting a ticketing system in place where persons guilty of these incorrect spellings in ads and on public readings be charged. What do you think?

MEN...
I am so curious about certain things in life. I always take note of words. Have you noticed how certain words with particular meanings are questionable while others are not. For example MENtal illness, MENopause,MENsturation, MENdacious, MENingitis and the list could go on. Do you see what I am getting at?
From all my readings and experience I have noticed that all these mean something that either affect women in some negative light or affect the brain in some serious ways! MEN, what do you think? What is your take? Often I would hear some women say that everything that give women pain has MEN in it. Is it true? Maybe, could be, possibly.
Well MEN, you may say that women also can cause problems but I guess that is because again the word ends with MEN! Agree? I knew you would.Well I invite you all to go research any interesting words which could have particular connections to humans to certain way. Also check out the names of certain roads and restaurants. Some sound rude to me, some appear to be questionable but who knows? For example, I saw this restaurant in Tennessee over the weekend with the name...Buddy...I was turned off because in my hometown (Jamaica) that word means the male genital so that place would not survive because we would not eat there!
Go have fun observing some of these roads, streets, restaurants, diseseases... I leave you to do futher research on this one too.Hysterectomy! Do you know the story behind this? Well, so far the statment says...If SHE gets hysterical ...CUT it OUT! Think about it.

Sources on Divorce
Visiting the library to research on my topic about divorce in America proved to be tedious. Reasons being, my time was limited and there was a host of sources to review. I tried to look at books, articles and magazines; both online and print copies. I will contune as time progressives to research further on my topic.
Some of the topics I saw connected to my topic were adultery, divorce in different traditions, divorce among different ethnic groups, different types of marriages, Bible on marriage and divorce, history of marriage and gay divorces. Some of these topics are too far off from my topic, so I will limit my research and continue to condense until I find the appropriate materials I need.
Also, some information I read from some of the resources highlighted the different issues with divorce; such as the reasons, the effects, the impact divorce can have on children, stress relating to divorce and how to prevent divorce.
Divorce topics can be as painful as the act itself. I will continue my reseach so I can compose a great , rewarding paper on my topic chosen.

Oppression...at University! (In PRESENT Day)
We learned that in colonial times and the Great Depression the education system were painfully unequal. Certain classes of people were also very oppressed. These oppressed students were not allowed unless told, they had to listen to the teacher talk talk talk then regurgitate whatever they were taught. There is a whole lot more to their oppressive past but I would like to talk about our situation here and now at a particular class at GSU.
There is a particular course I am currently enduring (not by choice) in which our professor is on the verge of robotizing us! Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon, we reluctantly await some kind of oppressive drama or better put kindergarten charade. We are all adults in this class. There are about twenty two of us and so far it appears to me that we are a well-behaved group. However, we are treated like kids by our professor. Here is a compact list of some of what occurs in our room.
1.Student wishes to leave room for short period-professor stops to see who and at times asks where?!
2.Someones phone vibrates -professor stops to see to whose it is and make a comment or a request
3. Student wears blue tooth to class (not in use), asked to remove it
4.Student talking on phone at least 15 minutes before class, asked to take conversation outside or stop. We are told we can talk to each other before class starts but not on the phone.
5.During midterm students not allowed to use their own blue lined paper. They must use the ones he provide. We are not allowed to have any on our desk either ...unless they were given to us by him.
6.We are not allowed to attend school functions if its during his time, even if its for 15-20 minutes. Once 3 of us attended this recently held function on campus and he stopped the class after we entered to discuss and complain... laying out more new oppressive rules. These functions are held on schools days and during class periods , so in order for us to participate we must attend in one way or another.
7. It is hard for us to take notes, because he uses only slides and he moves them so swiftly. If we try to get notes from our classmates he complains or queries. (Is that for class?)
8. If we whisper occasionally to ask out classmate for anything, he wants to know whats its about!
Most, if not all discussions are done by him and mainly him alone. This professor is annoying us. It seems everything bothers him. He sees everything and hears everything. (Worst part ...he is NOT old!) What would you call this kind of situation, if not oppression?

Ex,Y (Why?), Z (Zee!)

My intention is to try as best as I can to tell you about the worst thing I have ever done. I had a difficult time choosing only one! (Just kidding) Some worst things can be serious, some hilarious, some justifiable, some naughty, and some can be qualifiable for criminal actions. I will explain mine which I believe is justifiable.
In my teenage years I fell in love with the best boyfriend ever! (or so I thought.) We dated for few years and it appeared as if we were heading to what is known as long and lasting love. Hah! Not so, this dude decided to start doing stupid things! Playing around and imitating some playboy kind of crap. I was no where near this kind of lifestyle. His idea was that having more than one of us was the way to go.
To send him my final message of disagreeing with this secret decision; I packed all the stuffs he had given me during our relationship in a backpack along with most of his stuffs. This package included clothes, shoes, books, discs, pictures of us, diaries, caps (many;his) and some other valuables. I lit the backpack and discretely put it on the bed while he was in deep sleep. Yes, he was on that same bed! Luckily, he awoke (from smelling the smoke; I guess) and put out the fire. I did not think this was hilarious but I know it was justifiable for his behavior.
Of course, he is still an ex to me and sometimes I asked myself why but then I reminisce and say zee (Thank God)! I am glad we are no longer together and happy that I have learnt and have matured so if and whenever next I should have to deal with an ex I shall find more modern ways to express myself. What about you?

Presidential Debate

I am not very interested in politics but will attempt to analyze the presidential debate in a truncated way. Firstly, the debate was a little boring and had a lot of repetitions both in the questions asked by Jim and the answers given by McCain and Obama. For most of the debate I felt like the candidates had difficulty answering the questions directly.
Both candidates lacked specifics in all their answers. The debate focused on national and foreign policies.
Obama accused his opponent of intending to carry on the Bush administration. On the question of international affairs McCain showed mastery of facts and names and history.I was so appalled by this as I wondered what the heck knowing these folks names will do? Obama was confident and commanding in his responses. I think McCain used mainly emotions.McCain went on to make' memoirs' about his time when he held captive....I did not see this argument relevant and the question was about the war in Iraq presently. Obama suggested that American leaders move swiftly to save the drowning economy. He also suggested that accountability be valued for the money they plan to use for the bailout. He was also very concerned about the middle class people of America. I was very happy with Obama's responses as he tried more to stay on target and he was more concerned about citizens and also concerned about preventitive measures.
Obama was the only one out of the two candidates to mention plans for education. This was a plus in my opinion. He questioned the financial situation now asking how did America get in this mess in the first place. He thinks that plans must be put in place to prevent these occurrences.Kudos for Obama to be caring about education. Without an educated nation we have nowhere going.
McCain proposed that spending needs to be under control in order to help the failing economy. Well this could suffice. He plans to veto some of the spending bills if he should become president. He wants to keep taxes low.
Obama spoke about health care and his concerns. He wanted to help the elderly and others to have better access to reasonable health plans. He also stressed the point of America needing to use alternate energy. I think Obama was being more realistic and consistent in his arguments than his opponent . McCain was being more emotional and using the past to relish about how many foreign personnels he has met. How can this be of valid use to the country?
The next step is to listen to the vp debates and see if there will be much difference to the presidential debate. Maybe these debates may help to shape our decision come November 4!

Gummy, Sticky Habit!

Have you ever been in an office and tried to speak to a reception who is chewing gum? I eat chewing gum and I really like many and various flavors. My issue with chewing gum is the inappropriate timing some of us choose to enjoy it.
I have noticed that many people (women) especially, who work in the front of an office have been chewing gum in a high fashioned kind of way. They will pop it while greeting guests, make loud noises with the gum, and just be so annoying to others while eating their gum! Why? Some 'chewers' have this incessant smacking with the gum with absolutely no consideration for the person they are talking to.
At a particular children's clinic that I have to visit often, the ladies who work at the reception area are ALWAYS chewing gum! They do it in such a disgusting way I want to scream. Oftentimes I have to ask them to repeat what they say to me because I think the gum gave him speech impediment. Also at the dentist (where I go), one of the receptionists would eat gum all the times as if her life depended on it. Today I went to one of the Financial Aid offices at the university I attend and I was so turned off by the person speaking to me. She kept chewing the gum with no discretion and reacted as if she was having a serious battle with the chewing gum because he chewed it with what appeared to be vengeance!
Come on. This is annoying and seems to be obnoxious. Could you please just eat the gum with a little courtesy or try to be a little discrete, especially when working in the front of an office, where you are expected to meet and greet people. Also people working in the front of offices are expected to represent their companies; so... Think about it. By the way, Is there a chewing gum etiquette? If there is, it would worthwhile to post these up in all office area plus distribute to workers.

No More!-I am Out!
No more pain! No more drama! How could you? Why did you? I'm out! Leave me alone! The list could go on and on. These are some of the bitter words you could expect to hear from some couples who are getting divorced. A familiar line in the traditional wedding vow says, 'till DEATH do us part.' More recently this has changed to, 'till DEBT do us part.'Is this the sole reason for the high divorce rate in America? Divorce can be caused by a host of reasons. Some of these are infidelity, sexual incompatibility, differences in priorities and expectations, child rearing, religious and cultural strains, boredom and financial issues. I strongly believe the high divorce rate in America now is caused from financial issues and the war in Iraq.
Couples now in America are faced with a serious battle of trying to control finances. Some are losing their houses, cars and their jobs. This can cause great negative impact on families. Couples tend to get frustrated with these constraints and this can lead to never ending arguments. These financial downfalls can lead individuals in marriage to seek help elsewhere. Some may start seeing someone new to get help, and some may start to indulge in smoking or drinking.
The war in Iraq could be providing jobs for some but it is breaking many families apart. Husbands and wives are separated due to the fact that one is away in war. This may lead to one or the other becoming lonely and then infidelity comes next.
The painful part about divorce is that it does not only affect the couple. It has great impact on the children (if there are any) from the union. This can lead to a battle over which home they will live in. New child rearing issues could arise, jealousy in many arenas, emotional disturbances and a host of other new issues. Though it is quite obvious that American marriages are breaking apart more often than twenty five years ago, there are many ways that couples can attempt to solve some of the problems in their marriage;( for the ones solvable , that is.) Some may think that Alimony is great, while some will settle for ALL the money! What do you think? I don't think one should remain in a marriage that has deteriorated but I believe couples should try as best as possible to solve the problems before opting for divorce.

'Jungle' Justice, maybe?
I keep asking myself why is there so much injustice in this world? Why is it there are so many improper detentions? Why? Why? How is it America is so powerful and tries to control people so often? Does America have a right to be treating people this way?
Sometimes I get worried about the future and where I stand in this country. On the other hand, at times, I feel as if I do not care. Sometimes it can be so stressing to hear about some of the weird ,cruel, and unjustified situations that some people are forced to tolerate in this country. I keep wondering when next or who next will this unfair justice system crucify?
Why detain people, not having any solid proof of anything and ill-treating them along with that? The real question is, can any of us in America feel safe? What if these folks have a greater plan to destroy America or to retaliate seriously? It gets scary sometimes. Are we trying hard enough to make the justice system any better or are we just feeling hopeless?
While watching this video of the detainees telling their story I was very hurt. No, I was none the least surprised that they told their sad tales of how they were treated in a barbaric manner; kicked, punched, etcetera. I am more surprised that they survived! Do you think one day (just being optimistic) that America's justice system will change to actually reflect TRUE justice? I am so happy that I am not connected to these detainees in any way. I really feel pity for them and their families. Is it that America is not capable of having a real, valued justice system for certain folks? This is sad. What can we do, if anything?

White Site?
Well, when I viewed the lists on this site I thought, whatever. Do you really care?I don't know exactly if this author was trying to ridicule white people in a sense. At some point I think he is. Do liking these things highlighted in the lists make some people white? Is it white in skin tone or white in mentality?
Honestly, I really personally do not care what you, he, she, Kunte, Tecumseh, or whomever likes! This will not change me or affect the world much. Some of the things in this list appear to be hilarious, some stupid, some interesting and some boring. Matter of fact, the entry on the list about white people like being excessively early for class!!! I was freaking out! I thought ,"I guess he is not talking about the students at GSU!" As for the entry about white people liking to be empathetic to the poor; I wanted to believe this a little but I think he is really trying to send them a message. What do you think? Do they really do?
Please also send me the site for the list that black folks like. I am getting excited about this. Then if there is a list for any other major group please send it to me so I can check it out. Maybe I could attempt to start the black list. Blacks like justice, blacks like to be in court (as victims), blacks like to be chased by cops? What is your take? Ah hah! I got you. You are wondering now, right? Was he just trying to play ironical! Am I? I am of th eimpression that the author is trying to send white a message in some aspects of the list.
How about just seriously make a site of th elist of stuff blacks like? Maybe there is one. If so, please, someone send it to me. Iwould like to also like to get you guys to think about this. I have wondering for a while now why is it certain words are spelt certain way. For example, BLACKmail, BLACKsheep,BLACKlist,BLACKops, BLACKfoot and the list could go on. Just think about it. Are these black words all positive?

I have wondering for a while now why is it certain words are spelt certain way. For example, BLACKmail, BLACKsheep,BLACKlist,BLACKops, BLACKfoot and the list could go on. Just think about it. Are these black words all positive?

'Babies' Rule the World?
Sit down! Sit down! Put it back! No! No! Oftentimes, I have noticed that parents and guardians publicly try to discipline their children... with little or no luck. Why is it these babies, toddlers and teenagers are so difficult to control?
At times I think some of these 'little ones' have too much freedom! When one has too much freedom, they tend to misuse it! How on this Earth did a child get to start being in control of their parents or guardians? I do not have perfect children but there is no way possible in this given lifetime that any of my children will be allowed to react to us (parents), their teachers, their older family members or other adults in a rude manner. I am very aware of the fact that each person has their varied views on parenting. We need ensure that our children which ought to be the future learn the appropriate ways to react both in public and private areas. Can you imagine some of these apparent rude children being the future!
I have had several experiences observing children being rude to their parents or some other adult and was just so appalled all the time at these events. Child hitting mother, screaming at parent because they want their own way, some teens decide to do drugs, get promiscuous , etcetera. If we really care about these future children we have learn proper parenting skills in dealing with them as well as be firm. Adults of children need to have clear definitions as to the boundaries. We do not need to allow our children to react like the so called 'norm.' I am from a different culture and yes our children are protected by 'Children Services' too but oh no , when they are rude they get spanking! or some serious worthy enough punishment which put them back on their tracks. No, I did not say abuse, I said punishment. Yes, we spank them, publicly or privately. I know the rules in USA are wired differently and at times the kids are told 'certain things' which I think help to cause them to react the way some of them do.
Call 911, call Children Services, you belong to Bush! Blah blah blah. Let us see who will come and get them when they fall doing the wrong thing!

Rich/Poor
It is rather amazing how life has so many different levels of imbalances. I am annoyed when people use money to do weird things and there are so many important things to do in this world. For example helping the needy or improving an area of the depleting environment.
As far as I can see, there appears to be no more middle class. It is just rich and poor. The margin has become so wide. Is this how it should be? I do not think 'certain ' groups of humans care enough to understand the disparity or to even try to do something about it.
Why on earth would any sensible person want to spend so much money on any piece of art? What about the ordinary artists who use just regular affordable materials? I guess their great work will not be sold. The question is, Can we do anything about this distinct disparity between rich and poor?
Even worse, these extraordinary sales took place on two of the arguably worst days for global finance in the last decades! Hmmm? Well, I guess these folks have no need to worry about the failing economy's effect on others because they have reasons to be content. Who will take care of the poor? Who is looking out for the 'little' people? Who will consider the poors' interests? I sense much selfishness and ignorance on the part of 'certain' groups.
I wonder if the 'new' government in United States of America could assist significantly in aiding to redce some of this disparity as well as some of the nonsense occurring in the global finance markets. Maybe, we all have to play our part and get more involved in whichever way we possibly can because this will affect us all one way or another.

Smile..Get over it!
Mr and Mrs DoIt always enjoy each other as husband and wife. Mrs DoIt likes to surprise her husband, so one afternoon she decided to wait naked in her living room for her husband. To her surprise, her momther-in-law (in her late 60's) came in and saw her. The mother-in-law asked her why is she naked. Mrs DoIt told her that it is her 'birth suit' and that her husband loves it. The mother-law-in-law decided to copy Mrs DoIt and laid naked in her own living room the next day waiting on her hubby. He came in and was stunned. He asked the mother-in-law what was up with that. Her reply, "This is my 'birth suit'." The husband shouted with disgust, 'Well you need to go get it IRONED!"
I hope I made you laughed or at least smile. The point I am trying to make is that we need to smile more often. I have noticed that many people walk around looking so gloomy and sullen. Some react as if the world is on their shoulders. People, come on.Whatever it is, life goes on. No, i am not happy everyday but I try to think about happy occasions so I can at least smile. I think a smile can be contagious and that is a great thing! Join in and let us try to contaminate the world with smiles. Stop!Smell the flowers in the garden. Say a cheerful ,'hi' to someone. Unplug the earphones from your ears and be aware of sounds around you. You may hear something hilarious. Look at a baby and take note of his/her beauty.
A smile can help to limit wrinkles. Smiles uplift the human's spirits. Smiles make our faces look pleasant. They can make us look more approachable. Enjoy a happy moment while you can. Watch a comedy with few friends and burst out into laughter (and or tears of joy).I am aware of the ocean of problems we can be affected by but please just try to smile. The only way to get rid of a problem is to solve it..so if you can not what will you do? Walk around all day and look solemn? No.If you do not like history, change it... Get the point?
My next suggestion is whenever you feel sad , think about someone being in a situation worse than you are. For example, you are sad because the dinner at home was not what you wanted...;think about those WITHOUT dinner. We are complaining about the price of gasoline; what about those without access to a vehicle or the fare for the bus ride? Feeling sad about your pay being insufficient, thank God you have a job. What about those who do not have and are faced with many obstacles in trying to get employment.
Smile, smile, try to be happy. Things will be better some day. Have hope... Go check out hilarious videos on www.derrickcomedy.com, youtube, or listen to prank calls on steverharveyshow.com. Find something to smile about.Relief some of your stress or tension, just smile.

Albums to 'die' for...

I love music. I mainly prefer Reggae out of all. My next best is souls music.I will provide a list of ten of my 'desert island' albums along with link to the artists. If I should be 'stranded' anywhere, I would love to have the following Reggae albums with me. Rebulution by Tanya Stephens- http://music.aol.com/album/rebulution/1044295; In the Streets to Africa by Richie Spice-http:/shop.mixtapekings.com/richie_spice_s/206.htm,and From Kingston to King of the Dancehall: A Collection of Dancehall Favorites by Beenie Man -http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/beenie_man/albums.jhtml?albumId=862348. These albums help me to keep close to my roots. Being that I am from Jamaica, I love these artistes and when I listen to their music I can dance and just be free! These albums also have songs with some comical content, which when I listen I can laugh and just forget about some of my problems. One of our mostly used 'motto' in Jamaica is ' no problem.' The album by Richie Spice has many songs which I listen to oftentimes just to meditate. This artist composes many 'deep' songs which help me to connect with my inner self sometimes.Tanya Stephens' album is about 'rude girl' and 'hardcore' loving. She can very graphic in her songs , and I love it! Wherever I listen to these Reggae albums I can feel at home and be relaxed. My next 'desert island' album is Hero by Kirk Franklin-http://www.amazon.com/Hero-Kirk-Franklin/dp/B000AOJ9XA/ref=pd_sim_m_4.I am very much aware that there is a supreme being and so I like to listen to this album as it helps to keeps me on my spiritual side. When I listen to this album I just sing along and be calm. I usually listen to this album on Sunday mornings or in times when I am feeling revengeful or in mourning.Listening to this album, reminds to forgive and to be hopeful.
My other 'desert island' albums are The Greatest Hits by Whitney Houston-www.whitneyhouston.com, Growing Pains by Mary J. Blige- www.mjblige.com, If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys-www.starpulse.som/Music/Keys,_Alicia, Get Lifted by John Legend- www.johnlegend.com.,When a Woman Loves by Patti Labelle-www.imdb.com/name/nm0479458 and Marvin Gaye's Greatest Hits by Marvin Gaye-www.marvingayepage.net. When I listen to these albums they give me a sense of love and keep adrenaline flowing as I continue to think about my other half ( my husband). These albums help to get us in the 'mood' and help me to get our adult side of life on the continuos side. These albums I listen to also give me 'peace of mind.' These albums help to relax and also to meditate.
Go ahead and check these out and see how well they will make you feel! Yes, seriously, break away a little from the Beyonce, Rhianna, Lil Wayne, Rock and such .... Try some Reggae! Dance your legs to life!
